HATTIESBURG, MISS. – The Hattiesburg Police Department (HPD) adds two more officers to the department, and just need two more officer to reach the department’s goal of 107 officers.

Toby Barker, the Mayor of Hattiesburg swore in the two lateral transfers, Dustin McCullan and James Harrington.

McCullan originally started his law enforcement career with the Hattiesburg Police Department, and said he made it his personal goal to back with HPD. McCullan expressed his excitement to be back in the area he calls home and ready to serve the community.

“I am a community oriented officer,” McCullan said. “I’m open to anything you want to ask me, tell me, or suggestions. If you got any problems, I’m happy to take care of them.”

Harrington also voiced his excitement to get involved with the community.

“I’m going to be a very community oriented police officer,” Harrington said. “I like being out there shaking hands, not just sitting in a car for 12 hours.”
