Officials: T.S. Barry continues to weaken; prepare for heavy rain overnight
Tropical Storm Barry is weakening to 60 m.p.h. winds after making landfall in Louisiana Saturday as a Category 1 hurricane.
Coordinates as of 7 p.m. Saturday: 30.7N 92.7W; the center is about 45 miles south-southwest of Alexandria, Louisiana.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the Pine Belt/Meridian area through Monday at 7 a.m. The forecast for the rest of the weekend calls for a near 100% chance for thunderstorms. Eight inches of rain and wind gusts of up to 40 m.p.h. are possible.
