Sheriff Mike Williams confirmed Monday afternoon that the search for a missing person in Demopolis, Alabama is related to the Amber Alert regarding 5-year-old Taylor Williams.
The girl was reported missing by her mother, Brianna Williams, on Wednesday morning, after she said she last saw her daughter in her bedroom at their Jacksonville home.
Brianna Williams, a Petty Officer 1st Class at NAS Jacksonville, is from Alabama. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said in a news conference last week they are working with investigators in Alabama because Brianna has family there.
Brianna Williams is also not cooperating with police in the investigation and is now considered a person of interest in her daughter's disapperance, the Sheriff's Office said.
The Demopolis Police Department said Sunday afternoon they are assisting the FBI and other out-of-state agencies in a search for a missing person around the Demopolis area.
Demopolis is about 16 miles north of where Brianna previously lived.
