Hattiesburg Half Marathon officials altar plans ahead of April 4 event

(The following information comes from officials of the Hattiesburg Half Marathon. Visit www.HburgHalfMarathon.com or like www.facebook.com/hburghalfmarathon for more details.)

Thank you for allowing us time to make decisions regarding the Hattiesburg Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k previously scheduled for April 4, 2020.

The well-being and safety of our race participants is our top priority, and we have been monitoring travel and event restrictions regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the United States. With that being said we are changing the Pinebelt regions BIGGEST one day fundraiser benefitting 14 charities to the HATTIESBURG HALF MARATHON, 10K, and 5K VIRTUAL RUN.

Since this run is a fundraiser, we are doing things a little different from the usual virtual run. We will not be giving out medals, t shirts, bib numbers, etc. However, we will be collecting results from our participants and posting the virtual race results on our website. We will be giving prizes to the overall winners and the age group winners. And the Pinebelt Foundation will be sending you a letter than enables you to write off your registration cost as a charitable donation on your 2020 income tax.

If you do not want to support this fundraiser, you may opt to defer your registration to the 2021 Hattiesburg Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k.

We sincerely hope to have a 100% participation in our VIRTUAL RACE. Our staff will be planning one heck of a virtual race with prizes, contest, and a whole lot more. You actually aren’t going to want to miss the 2020 Hattiesburg Half marathon, 10k, and 5k virtual race.
