SCRMC: Fifth patient tests positive for COVID-19

(The following is a press release from South Central Regional Medical Center.)

South Central Regional Medical Center received word this afternoon from the MIssissippi State Department of Health (MSDH)that another patient who was tested at South Central is positive for the Coronavirus. The individual is a South Central employee who was tested a week ago after exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19 and sent home to self isolate until test results could be received. The employee, a resident of George County, will now remain in quarantine at home unless symptoms warrant a visit to the Emergency Department. Doug Higginbotham, President and Chief Executive Officer at South Central, said, “I know this is a difficult time for all of us. We are committed to being here throughout this for our South Central family of employees and those who live in Jones County and surrounding areas. Thank you for following the CDC and Mississippi State Department of Health’s guidelines, and helping us as our health care team cares for those who need us.” He continued to say South Central will provide updates to the press so the community can be updated on a regular bases.
