Vitalant, formerly United Blood Serivces, is teaming up with Pine Belt Young Professionals for a blood drive Friday at Hattiesburg's Lake Terrace Convention Center.

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted blood centers, which are struggling to maintain stable inventories and avoid a major blood shortage.
