ADP releases statement on Mississippi's current flag

(The following is a press release from the Area Development Partnership. In a note of further disclosure, WHPM-TV, FOX23, is an ADP member.)

The Board of Directors of the Area Development Partnership (ADP), the regional chamber of commerce and economic development agency in Greater Hattiesburg, MS, unanimously approved a statement in favor of changing the state flag. The ADP has 23 voting Board members and a membership comprised of over 825 businesses ranging from small, locally owned and managed businesses, to large multi-national corporations representing more than 20,000 employees. Greater Hattiesburg is a vibrant, diverse community with a pro-business operating environment. We always want to portray the best possible image nationally and internationally as we seek to grow the state’s economy. We are progressive, inclusive, and value everyone equally. Our state should strive to remove barriers that inhibit us from reaching our full potential, socially and economically. Let’s remove the Confederate emblem that conjures emotions associated with prior injustices.
