Update to Mississippi Winter Weather Conditions

Pearl, MS — Counties are reporting significant icing impacts to bridges and overpasses in north and central Mississippi. Travel is extremely hazardous. While the precipitation is ending, it will take some time for ice to melt on roadways, especially elevated surfaces.

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety is reporting major traffic issues in the Jackson area on Interstate 55 and along Interstate 20 in Jackson and Meridian due to accidents

Entergy Mississippi is reporting close to 6,700 power outages mainly in Hinds, Madison and Warren Counties.

Gov. Phil Bryant delayed the opening of state offices until 10 a.m.

The Mississippi Department of Education is reporting there are 25 school districts and colleges closed today with 31 more having delayed starts statewide.
