One injured in 3-vehicle accident in Jones County and one arrested

Jones Co, MS - A three-vehicle accident Friday afternoon, March 13, in the Glade community of Jones County sent one driver to the hospital and one driver to jail.

Shortly after 3 p.m., emergency medical responders and rescue units from Glade and Powers Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to the intersection of Luther Hill Road and Ellisville Tuckers Crossing Road, where the three vehicles had collided.

The male driver of a black Dodge Ram 4x4 pickup was transported to South Central Regional Medical Center by EMServ Ambulance Service with what was believed to be a minor, non-life threatening head injury.

The male driver and female passenger of a Chevrolet Suburban were uninjured, along with the male driver of a GMC Sierra SLT.

While being questioned by Jones County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Josh Welch, the driver of the GMC Sierra bolted from the scene on foot just as Deputy Welch reached to handcuff him to arrest him for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. A foot pursuit ensued by Welch and Powers firefighter Lance Chancellor, Glade firefighter Doug Stewart, and Jones County Fire Coordinator Dan McKenna. After being tazed by Welch, the driver was taken into custody and transported to the Jones County Adult Detention Center.

Ellisville Tuckers Crossing Road remained open with restrictive traffic flow for over an hour.
