Laurel Man Arrested Second Time on Child Sex Charges

Nearly two months after his first arrest, a Laurel native is back in jail charged with the sexual battery of an 8-year-old female.

Investigators with the Jones County Sheriff Department said the charge against Ricky Portis stemmed from his original arrest on March 4, in which he was charged with inappropriately touching a 9-year-old female on several occasions. Bond in both cases was set at $25,000 each.
