MyFOX 23 Names Winner of "Companies that Care" 2015 Spring Home Rehab Project
Hattiesburg, MS - MyFOX 23, the local FOX affiliate for Hattiesburg, has announced a winner in the 2015 "Companies that Care" Home Rehabilitation Program. Jeffrie Holliman, a resident of the Pine Belt, was chosen to receive up to $6000 in much needed home repairs.
According to Jon Pollard, the General Manager of the Hattiesburg FOX affiliate, "MyFOX 23 is a locally owned and operated TV station, and we are dedicated to making an impact here, where we live and work." Pollard says that Holliman "has a huge heart, and we're honored to be able to pay her back for the love she's shown everyone else over the years."
Viewers chose Holliman from a pool of candidates supplied by Habitat for Humanity by voting online. Each candidate's story was available for viewers to choose as the person they felt most needed or deserved the work.
Holliman, a senior citizen raising grandchildren, has been crucial in providing safe housing for numerous children over the past 20 years. While her home has provided shelter for several generations of children, the activity has taken its toll on her home, leaving her in need of extensive repairs and upgrades.
The program marks its second successful year of partnership between FOX 23 and Habitat for Humanity with the announcement of the newest winner. FOX 23 also partnered with local companies including Mack Grubbs Hyundai, Mississippi Power, and Mattress Express by Woodstock Furniture, among others, to provide Holliman with the funding, manpower, and materials that repairing her home requires.
FOX 23 broadcasts on channel 23.1, covering eight counties in the area. They operate as Hattiesburg's only locally owned and operated TV station, carrying FOX programming and popular syndicated television shows. FOX 23 is owned by WHPM TV LLC.
