Suspected HPD shooters in custody

Hattiesburg, MS - UPDATE: Officials have confirmed that two HPD officers have been killed in Hattiesburg Saturday evening. They have been identified as Benjamin J. Deen, 34, and Liquori Tate, 25.

Both officers were transported to Forrest General Hospital, where Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict confirmed that both died due to injuries sustained in the shooting.

Authorities stated the officers were conducting a routine traffic stop on Gordon Street in Hattiesburg when the shooting occured. The suspects fled the scene in an officer's vehicle, which has now been found near the tracks behind the train depot.

Three suspects have been charged in connection with the shootings and are now in custody,

Marvin Banks - 29, who was apprehended at North Gate Inn shortly after 1:00am, has been charged with two counts of capital murder, one count of grand theft auto and one count of felon in position of a firearm.

Curtis Banks - 26, who was apprehended at Plantation Place apts. around 3:00am, has been charged with two counts of accessory after the fact of capital murder.

Joanie Calloway - 22, who was taken into custody at the time of the shooting, has been charged with two counts of capital murder.
