Funds in honor of fallen HPD officers

The Greater Pinebelt Community Foundation has created two funds in honor of Officers Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate, the two police officers who were slain on Saturday, May 9, 2015. These funds have been set up to help both police officers and their families in difficult times by providing immediate assistance and scholarships.

  • Benjamin J. Deen and Liquori Tate Memorial Scholarship Fund

This Scholarship Fund was set up by an anonymous donor for Law Enforcement Officers who have been injured or killed in the line of duty, or their immediate family (children or spouse – or the injured officer themselves) in the Pine Belt area to any Community College, University or Police Academy. This will be an endowed fund that will give annual scholarships – forever.

  • Benjamin J. Deen and Liquori Tate Hardship Memorial Fund

This Fund was set up for Police Officers in the Pine Belt area who have been slain or injured in the line of duty creating a hardship to the family.

Both Funds will have oversight by a committee of community leaders to assist with the grant selection process.

Anyone wishing to honor the fallen officers by making a donation to either of these funds, please write a check to The Greater PineBelt Community Foundation and in the memo line put “Deen / Tate Scholarship” or “Dean / Tate Hardship.” Send the check to 1507 Hardy Street, Suite 208, Hattiesburg, MS 39401.

The Greater PineBelt Community Foundation manages over 100 Funds. All funds are set up in honor or memory of loved ones or for projects that enhance our community.
