Walter Anderson Museum Summer Art Camp – Paint it Green

Ocean Springs, MS – WAMA is going green! This year, our art camp will be partnering with the Gulf Coast Research Lab Marine Education Center.

Every Thursday, campers must be dropped off at the GC research laboratory located on east beach in Ocean Springs. While there, campers will observe and collect various organisms, learn and apply field techniques, and classify what they collect. Through this, campers will gain a deep understanding of the importance of dynamic coastal habitats, marine plants and animals and how the ecosystem plays a role in their own lives.

Back at our art cottage, campers will create pieces with recyclable materials and found objects using a variety of art techniques including sculpture, and painting. Campers will also learn about local and international artists who use up-cycled materials in their own art. Each week will feature different projects and activities, so campers can attend as many or as few sessions as they'd like.

A sack lunch must be provided every day except for Fridays, the campers will have a pizza party and an art show where they can show off all they've created and learned. Friends and family are strongly encouraged to attend. Campers must be between the ages of 6-11. Enrollment packets are now available at the Front Desk. Enrollment packets must be completed in full and turned into the Front Desk at least 1 week before camp starts.
