USA FOOTBALL TO INSTRUCT LOCAL YOUTH AND HIGH SCHOOL COACHES ON HEADS UP FOOTBALL PLAYER SAFETY INIT
USA Football will conduct a Heads Up Football Player Safety Coach clinic Sunday, June 28, at Mize Attendance Center. USA Football will instruct Player Safety Coaches representing high school programs and youth leagues throughout the state. This group will then teach Heads Up Football to their organizations’ coaches, players and parents.

Heads Up Football overview, 8 a.m.
Concussion recognition and response, 9:05 a.m.
Heat preparedness and hydration, 9:35 a.m.
Equipment fitting, 10:15 a.m.
Sudden cardiac arrest protocols, 10:45 a.m.
Player safety coach overview, 11:15 a.m.
Heads Up tackling and Heads Up blocking, 12:30 p.m.
Football practice guidelines, 1:45 p.m.
Heads Up tackling and blocking (on field instruction), 2 p.m.
Heads Up Football is a comprehensive approach to a better and safer game, encompassing USA Football’s accredited Level 1 Coach Certification Course; Heads Up Tackling and Heads Up Blocking techniques; Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) concussion recognition and response protocols; sudden cardiac arrest protocols; heat and hydration; and instruction on proper helmet and shoulder pad fitting.
After completing the workshop, Player Safety Coaches will oversee their organizations’ implementation of the USA Football program. Player Safety Coaches also will monitor practices and games throughout the season.
