MDOT Displays Select Travel Times in Hattiesburg
Jackson, MS — The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has begun displaying travel time messages on its Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) in the Hattiesburg area. The travel time messages inform motorists of the current travel time from the Dynamic Message Sign to the destinations that are displayed within the travel time messages. Motorists can use the travel time information in route planning and selection to assist them in reaching their destinations with minimal delay. In addition to travel times, the Dynamic Message Signs also provide important travel information to motorists on road work, crashes, weather warnings, congestion, and amber alerts.
In addition to MDOTtraffic.com, the MDOTtraffic Mobile App and Mississippi 511, this is another free travel resource that MDOT will offer to the traveling public. These signs are intended to give drivers the information they need to make informed decisions based on the traffic levels ahead of them. This service is another layer of information that will benefit motorists and their travel times, especially those in more urban areas of the state.
