Jones County woman dies in fatal crash

A Jones County woman was killed in a fatal two-vehicle crash in Jones County Monday morning, July 13, and three others were injured - one critical.

At 11:47 a.m., emergency medical responders and rescue units from Powers, M&M, and Glade Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the intersection of Lower Myrick Road and Reid Road where a Ford Ranger and a Chevrolet Lumina collided in the middle of the intersection.

The driver of the Chevrolet Lumina, 60-year old Patricia Pinter, was pronounced dead at the scene by Jones County Deputy Coroner Burl Hall. The two passengers in the vehicle, a 45-year old female and a 10-year old male, were transported to South Central Regional Medical Center by EMServ Ambulance Service with what was believed to be moderate to minor injuries.

The 57-year old driver of the Ford Ranger was also transported to SCRMC by EMServ Ambulance Service with what was believed critical and possibly life-threatening injuries.

According to officials on scene, the driver of the Ford Ranger was traveling west on Lower Myrick Road when he collided with the Chevrolet Lumina at the driver’s door, which was crossing Lower Myrick Road from Reid Road.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Jones County Sheriff’s Department.

Also, responding to the accident were Jones County Fire Coordinator Dan McKenna, Jones County Fire Service Chaplain Brother Drew Blanton, Jones County Fire Service EMR Coordinator Lee Garick, and Jones County District Attorney’s Office Investigator Wayne Black.
