Jackson VA Medical Center Announces Appointment of Associate Director

Jackson, MS – The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Joseph P. Vaughn, as the facility’s new Associate Director. As Associate Director, Mr. Vaughn will provide leadership and strategic guidance to the medical center in Jackson, MS and Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Columbus, Hattiesburg, Meridian, Greenville, Kosciusko, and Natchez. The medical center employs approximately 2,100 people. The facility has 128 hospital beds and an 86-bed Community Living Center (including a palliative care unit).
Mr. Vaughn is a U.S. Navy Veteran from Durant, Mississippi, and served in the Navy from 1983-1993 as a Fire Controlman maintaining the Navy’s Phalanx Close-In Weapon System. Prior to his selection as Associate Director, Mr. Vaughn served as the facility’s Assistant Director. He previously held the position of Chief Logistics Officer for the South Central VA Health Care Network (VISN 16), an integrated system for 10 VA medical centers that provides a full range of specialty, tertiary, mental health, and long-term care in an eight-state region. As Chief Logistics Officer, Mr. Vaughn managed all aspects of the supply chain and vehicle fleet programs within the Network.
Mr. Vaughn has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Mississippi State University and is a graduate of the Veterans Health Administration Health Care Leadership Development Program and the Federal Executive Institute. He holds a Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers, is a Senior-level Certified Program/Project Manager, and is an American Hospital Association Certified Material and Resources Professional. Mr. Vaughn is also a member of the American College of Health Care Executives.
