Jackson VA Medical Center to Hold Annual Homeless Stand Down for Veterans


Jackson, MS – The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center’s annual Stand Down for Homeless Veterans takes place on Friday, August 28, 2015, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Salvation Army located at 570 E. Beasley Road in Jackson.

Stand Downs are just one part of the Department of Veterans Affairs' efforts to provide services to homeless Veterans. The Stand Down will be a one day event providing services to homeless Veterans such as food, clothing, health screenings, VA and Social Security benefits counseling, and referrals to a variety of other necessary services, such as health care, housing, employment, and substance use treatment. Stand Downs are collaborative events, coordinated between the local VA, other government agencies, and community agencies serving the homeless.
