State Farm Awards MEMA $13K Grant
Jackson, MS – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is receiving support from the state’s largest home and auto insurer. State Farm® is awarding MEMA with a $13,000 grant for 2015 emergency preparedness efforts. The funding helps train residents around the state how to be prepared for and to respond to, natural and manmade disasters in their communities.
“We are pleased to support the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency in its efforts to keep residents around the state of Mississippi safe,” says State Farm spokesman Roszell Gadson. “Disaster preparedness and response is a key part of our mission so this is a natural fit for State Farm.” The announcement comes as the nation recognizes the month of September as National Preparedness Month.
“Individual and community preparedness are the keys to saving lives and a speedy recovery when disaster strikes a community,” said MEMA Director Robert Latham. “Public/private sector partnerships, such as this, will ensure that we leverage the whole community in building a new culture of preparedness that will change the outcome of disasters in a positive way.”
Jackson area State Farm agents will tour MEMA headquarters and present the check Thursday, September 10 at 10:30 a.m at the headquarters building located at #1 MEMA Drive, Pearl, Miss.
