A Jones County man was seriously injured when his vehicle left the road in the Rustin community of Northeast Jones County early Thursday morning, September 24.

At 5:13 a.m. emergency medical responders and rescue units from Rustin and Powers Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the 400 block of Poole Creek Road. Upon arrival rescue personnel found a white Nissan Altima off the road, and the adult male driver still inside his vehicle. The driver apparently left the road, plowed into a culvert, which caused him to go airborne, and landed in a clump of bushes and trees near the roadway.

He was transported to South Central Regional Medical Center by EMServ Ambulance Service with what was believed to be serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Jones County Sheriff’s Department.
