Jackson, MS - Mississippi governor Phil Bryant issues a burn ban at the request of the Mississippi forestry commission.

The burn ban has no time table and it will last indefinitely until further notice. More than half of the 82 counties were already under a burn ban before yesterday. Hattiesburg fire chief, Paul Presley explains how this affects you.

"Anybody burning debris...trash...stuff like that, don't burn stuff around dry vegetation...of course heavily wooded areas. Since October 1, we've had 430 wildfires and about 7,000 acres have been burned and about 23 homes plus some buildings have been destroyed. "
