USM Keeps Winning
Hattiesburg - Southern Miss traveled to Charlotte this past weekend to take on the 49ers and won big, 44-10. The Golden Eagles are happy with the result and are looking for more ways to improve.
Offensive Coordinator, Chip Lindsey said, "we struggled a little early, just getting in the flow of the game. But UNC Charlotte had something to do with that. Their defense I thought did a nice job. I thought our guys stayed the course, kept working through it and we were able to hit some plays. Our success on third down was extremely important."
Defensive Coordinator, David Duggan said, "we try to take away what teams do best on third down. When you're defensive front is getting as much push as we've been getting... we've been doing a great job getting after the quarterback and that makes it a little bit easier on the back-end."
Head Coach, Todd Monken said, "we're kind of at that point now where I think our guys believe we have a good football team. We are capable if we do the right things during the week, which the game is a bi-product of what you do during the week in terms of taking care of your body, terms of how you approach it, how you take notes, and how do you practice during the week that leads itself up to Saturday."
Southern Miss played amazing on all sides of the ball against Charlotte. USM coaches are very happy with the result and are also very happy that their team is one win away from being bowl-eligible. USM takes on UTEP this weekend on Halloween day and are looking forward to another win.
