Fire Ban Lifted?

Hattiesburg, MS - With recent massive rainfall, many of you have been wondering if there's still a burn ban in effect.

A week ago today, Governor Phil Bryant issued one for the entire state as drought conditions that began in August persisted.

Hattiesburg Fire Chief, Paul Presley tells us if the fire ban has been lifted or not.

"The burn ban statewide has been lifted. I think what the problem is if you have a local burn ban, that local county...they might still have a burn ban. You get to call your local fire department or your local board of supervisors if you want to burn outside and they can let you know whether they have been lifted locally or not."
