MDOT dedicates section of Highway 528 in Jasper County this morning

Jasper Co, MS -- The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) hosted a dedication ceremony Thursday designating a section of Highway 528 in Jasper County as “Jasper County Veterans Memorial Highway.”

The highway dedication ceremony was held Thursday, October 29 at 10:00 a.m. at the City Hall located at 39 South Sixth Street in Bay Springs, Miss.

The 2015 Session of the Mississippi Legislature designated a segment of Mississippi Highway 528 in Jasper County beginning at Interstate 59 to the intersection with Jasper County Road 17 as the “Jasper County Veterans Memorial Highway."

“MDOT is honored to dedicate this section of Highway 528 as ‘Jasper County Veterans Memorial Highway,’" said Transportation Commissioner Tom King. “This memorial will remind all of us who travel this section of highway in Jasper County of the tremendous sacrifices exhibited by our United States veterans.”

MDOT will erect and maintain appropriate signs on this designated segment of highway to honor veterans from Jasper County and beyond.
