USM speaker discusses about gay rights


HATTIESBURG, Miss - University of Southern Mississippi's last speaker of the year talks about gay rights and equality.

Roberta Kaplan, a lawyer for the prestigious law firm in New York, Pail Weiss, was invited to speak to the USM population about her career and gay rights cases she has worked.

One of her most famous cases was U.S. versus Windsor, she discussed the impact of the court's decision that restricting federal interpretation of marriage to heterosexual unions was unjust per the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment.
