Hattiesburg, MS. - Hattiesburg is one of only three cities in Mississippi to receive the Bicycle Friendly Community Award.
Melody Moody, Executive Director of Bike Walk Miss. said, "Being bicycle friendly is about recreation and transportation. It's about people using bikes whether by choice or by need. So this is an opportunity that Hattiesburg has taken to say, we want to be more than just a motorist-driven city and we want to make sure that we're taking into account bicyclist as well."
Hattiesburg joined Ridgeland and Oxford in receiving the bronze award.
Hattiesburg is looking to turn that award from bronze to gold in the near future.
