Southern Miss's Press Conference Heading into the Championship Game
Hattiesburg, Miss. - Southern Miss beat La Tech, 58-24, so you know what that means?
The Golden Eagles are going to a conference championship. Here what the coaches had to say in today's press conference.
Head coach Todd Monken said, "We're excited obviously to get an opportunity to play for a Conference USA Championship. We got out last night, got a chance to practice and make our corrections, and get ready for an outstanding Western Kentucky team."
Defensive coordinator, David Duggan said, "It's one of those locker rooms that you don't get to experience too often. We cherished those feelings and yet they knew that we got one more left. We got one more to finish it off. They were excited, we had a good win, we beat a good football team, but they also know we got one left to get."
Monken said “let's look forward, let's embrace this, this is our Super Bowl. This is everything for us. It's the conference championship and our team's preparation will be critical to how we play on Saturday. I'm not as good a dancer, if I was a good a dancer as Mike Gundy, I would dance. I'm not as good as Mike. Mike started it, Mike was the original, I don't know how he gets that low any way’s. I have no idea how he gets that low to the ground. He's very flexible, very nimble. I'm not. I'm very stiff."
Offensive coordinator, Chip Lindsey said, "He's a really good coach. I'm not sure he's a great dancer, but it doesn't matter though. When you're in that setting, it's just about having fun you know?"
Defensive lineman, Michael Smith said, "Everybody's dabbin' so I'll make sure to put that in his ear."
