Laurel police department ringing in donations
LAUREL, Miss - The Laurel Police Department rang the Salvation Army's Red Kettle bell to help raise money before Christmas.
LPD was stationed in front of the Walmart Supercenter in Laurel taking shifts ringing the bell for donations.
The Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign is not quite near their goal of $300,000 and any assistance helps.
Officer Kim Stewart had the second shift ringing the bell and says, "I feel confident we are going to reach our goal this year and doing what we have to do as citizens for Jones county to help raise money...personally I feel good, I am excited to be here. I wish I can stay all shift to meet and greet the customers."
All proceeds of the Red Kettle campaign will help those in need with food, clothes, and shelter.
This is the fifth year LPD voluntereed with the Salvation Army.
