"Shop With Cops"

Laurel, Miss. - The Laurel Police Department had their annual “Shop with Cops” recently at the Laurel Walmart.

Several families with their children showed up to stroll through Walmart and shop for Christmas presents with their local police officers.

Laurel Police Officer, Sgt. Michael Reaves said, “We get just as much out of it just as the children do. It’s something you really enjoy and it’s a way for us to give back to the community. So many times people see police officers in today’s time in a negative light due to unfortunate incidents and I think this gives these children an opportunity to see there’s a heart and a person behind the badge and it humanizes police officers and I think these children kind of take away from that. You know when I’m in need I can go to a police officer and hopefully that individual can help me.”
