Severe storm hits Seminary off HWY 49
SEMINARY, Miss - A severe storm hit small businesses and a home off HWY 49 early this morning after a tornado warning.
After a weekend of severe weather warnings in the Southeast, Seminary, was one of the towns in Mississippi that felt the damages.
Resident, Sharon Dickens, brother-in-law's home took a direct hit.
"He was watching the news and a big roar came in and the wind came through and the trailer started shaking, lightning struck and it was basically over" Dickens says.
It has been reported by Michael Kelley, Chief of Police of Seminary that there were no casualties.
Chief Kelley mentions they were well prepared and received advanced warning that saved lives.

"It hurts, I know all these people, I know the businesses, and their loss has been extreme, and I know what they are going through. It is important for us to be there and minister for them, and to serve them any way we can" Chief Kelly says.
The severe storm torn down trees and building parts of the local businesses were blocking the north and southbound lanes of HWY 49.
A few hours after the storm the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Highway Patrol reopened both roads.
The National Weather Association in Jackson will evaluate the scene to decipher if it was a tornado.
