Suspects indicted and linked to HPD officers shooting

HATTIESBURG, Miss - Two suspects have been indicted with the May 9 shooting deaths of officers Benjamin J. Deen, 34, and Liquori Tate, 25.

Joanie Calloway and Broderick Varnado were both indicted on charges of accessory after the fact of capital murder.

Calloway was also indicted for hindering prosecution and Varnado for possesion of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Calloway and Varnado have trial dates set in May.

The alleged shooter, Marvin Banks, died in the Forrest County jail cell early last month.

According to Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict, Banks died from severe heart disease.
