A local professor sets a new state record

Hattiesburg, Miss. - A William Carey assistant professor has set a state record.

Biomedical sciences assistant professor, Dr. John Smith, caught the new state record for freshwater drum.

Smith caught the 30.63-pound fish at Eagle Lake near Vicksburg.

Smith's catch was verified by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.
