Local boy and girl scouts hosted a soup kitchen

Seminary, Miss. - Seminary boy and girl scouts, along with the girl scouts of Collins, and boy and girl scouts of Bay Springs wanted to give back to the community on this special day by volunteering a soup kitchen.

Long Leaf service unit manager, Patt Ellis said, "Our girl scouts needed a take action project. The takeout project is where we give back to the community, because the community gives back so much to us. We found a need and right now because it's after the holidays, a lot of families don't have a lot of money, a lot of food in their pantries, so what we've done is taken what food we have and put it together and make soup, made various items to serve the public with and we offer free meals."

The girl scouts received badges and the boy scouts received community hours for their hard work.
