Last day to enroll for health coverage Jan 31.

HATTIESBURG, Miss - January 31 is the last day to enroll for health coverage for individuals who are uninsured to avoid paying a tax penalty.

Individuals who sign up too late have to pay a $695 tax fee or 2.5% of their income.

Kathryn Rehner Project Director for Health Access says, "It can help people avoid a financial catastrophe. A lot of Mississippians, their primary care comes from Emergency Room services, which can result in thousands of dollars in medical bills."
