HPD offers free domestic violence training
Hattiesburg, Miss. - The Hattiesburg Police Department is having a domestic violence training class.
The class is offering a free course to inform and educate the community on the impact and prevention of domestic violence.
Hattiesburg Police Officer, Lt. Jon Traxler said, "He will be talking about how to prevent domestic violence, how to report domestic violence, the different shelters and things that are out there for the public anytime somebody is involved in one, as well as some self-defense. Our main reason we're doing this, because this year, the only three homicides we've had, had been domestic related. So we feel it's something we need to reach out to the public, because domestic-type crimes are hard for us to prevent, because we're not at everybody's house all the time."
The training will be on March 19th at 10 a.m. at the Hattiesburg Cultural Center.
You can RSVP by calling 601-545-4971.
