USM beats UTEP

Hattiesburg, Miss. - Southern Miss hosted UTEP and Golden Eagle fans can appreciate that there were two halves of basketball.

The first half, the Golden Eagles had their infamous slow start once again, but started to find their rhythm later in the first half.

In the second half, the Golden Eagles started to make a splash. Price was heavily guarded, but Kourtlin Jackson and Quinton Campbell found a way to score buckets and help USM pick up their third win in conference.

Head coach, Doc Sadler said, "For us to come back again, it just says a lot about these guys and I'm so happy for them because once again, they didn't quit. 17-3 [run], you know I'm sure a lot of people were wondering why they came. I was wondering why I was there. I wasn't bringing nothing to the table at that point."

Guard, Khari Price said, "We all knew what we had to do. We had to claw ourselves back in the game from a slow start. We just knew that it was one run away from breaking the game open. Just continue that defensive pressure that we had and we did that and got some great stops."

The Golden Eagles defeated UTEP 71-58.

Southern Miss has a chance to go .500 Saturday night with a win against UTSA.
