Hattiesburg's third homicide in the first six days of 2016

Hattiesburg, Miss. - Hub City endured its third homicide Wednesday at a house in the 100 block of Montague Street.

Police found Nicholas Brown, 35, dead inside a house.

Hattiesburg Police Officer, Lt. Jon Traxler said, "When officers arrived, they spoke with the homeowner. That homeowner said that they responded here just to check on people who lived there. And when they went in, they found the subject deceased inside. At that time, they contacted us. Based on the investigation so far, it appears that the victim is a black male and was involved in some type of severe altercation."

Police said they have not made any arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
