The museum will offer Jitterbug Dance Lessons to veterans with local dance instructor, Rebecca Chandler. Black History Month events will continue throughout the month at the African American Military History Museum, formerly the East Sixth Street USO, a haven for African American military throughout it’s time as an active USO.
Manager Latoya Norman says, "This year we decided to have Jitterbug because we are focusing on the USO. The building is a historic USO and many of the acitivities that the ladies that came here and volunteered was dance and Jitterbug was a popular dance at that time. "
This month the museum will continue to honor veterans at special events held at the museum, and will hold educational presentations targeted towards local area students.
