A famous author donates $100,000 to the Children's Book Festival at Southern Miss

Hattiesburg, Miss. - USM is home to many things, but one award-winning man helped impact the Children's Book Festival USM has every year.

Author, Richard Peck said, "In the name of writers everywhere, I owe a great deal to the book festival and the archives at this university."

Peck donated $100,000 the university for the Children's Book Festival.

Peck said "there is an annual book festival that draws throughout the south. Librarians and teachers to meet authors, to meet others. And I have made it possible for some people to be able to come."

Peck said the donation will be in effect in next year's Children's Book Festival.

Peck said "that has made an enormous impact, especially on librarians and teachers who are not able to go to the National Conference and this is just as good."

The annual Children's Book Festival will be from April 6-8.
