Cooks Avenue Apartments is going to be remolded
Laurel, Miss. - Laurel City Council approved a major project Tuesday night that will benefit some seniors.
The city council granted a $3.2 million project by a private firm to renovate Cooks Avenue Apartments.
Laurel Mayor, Johnny Magee said, "It's past time for them to be remolded. You know bring things up to date. Bring up the heating and the air, appliances, things like that. Probably more security inside the buildings themselves. I think it was a very well-deserved project for the city to give their approval for. The city is not obligated to pay back the money. The developer will be the one paying the money back."
Mayor Magee said the financial planning started around six months ago and that this will be a two-year project.
