United Methodist Committee on Relief trains Pine Belt residents proper house clean up

HATTIESBURG, Miss - The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCR) conducted 'muck out' training for volunteers in Hattiesburg this afternoon.
Their goal is to train Pine Belt residents on proper house clean up for those affected by the recent floods.
David Newton of UMCR said, "First of all is safety. We want the volunteers and everyone to wear protective clothing, to wear respirators so that they do not become ill from the mold and dust. We also want to teach them how to go into a house and respect the homeowner's property."
The organization said that it is important to muck a house after the water recedes, to help the house dry out or else mold will take over.
