Jones county man charged with sexual battery

JONES COUNTY, Miss - This is a press release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department.

A Jones County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to South Central Regional Medical Center in February 2016, for a possible sexual assault complaint on a minor. The deputy followed proper protocol and filed a report. The Department of Human Services was notified of the complaint and provided a referral packet to the Jones County Sheriff’s Investigative Division.

A young juvenile reported a close family member had inappropriately touched her. During a forensic interview, the victim identified Randy Pruitt, 57 or Laurel, as the perpetrator. An arrest warrant was issued for Pruitt and on March 20, 2016, he was taken into custody, and interviewed the following day.

Pruitt was charged with Sexual Battery and his bond was set for $25,000.00.
