"The Radionian" receives 30 awards
Ellisville, Miss. - Jones County Junior College’s newspaper, "The Radionian,” received 30 awards at the annual Better Newspaper Contest and this is the most the junior college newspaper has received.
One of the students received multiple individual awards and she can't be more excited for not only herself, but her peers as well.
JCJC student, Hayden West said, "I was actually pretty surprised when I got called to win first place in the categories because honestly I wasn't expecting to win first place in anything."
West said “I was pretty excited for the awards that I received and I know that it was hard work for me so it was great to be recognized for it.”
West said "the staff and our writers were a great bunch of students who were willing to work hard and do whatever they needed to get done. And sometimes we all had to push each other just to get the last bit going, but it was overall a great year for the staff."
This is the ninth year in a row “The Radionian” took the General Excellence Award for the top community college in the state.
The junior college dominated the news and general interest column categories by taking first, second, and third place in each.
The newspaper also received first place for front page and first place for design.
