Local participants rappel down building for Extra Table fundraiser

HATTIESBURG, Miss - Over the Edge, a once in a lifetime event took place on Saturday during Hub Fest.

Participants were given the opportunity to rappel down the high-rise Carter building downtown as a fundraiser for the local non-profit organization, Extra Table.

Extra Table's Michael Dixon said, "We knew it would be something that would draw a lot of attention, we knew it would be something fun for people to do."

For the last few months individuals raised $1,500 each to go over the Carter building.

"If you're a dare devil or if you want to face you fears, it is just something different" Dixon added.

The organization raised more than $50,000. The money raised provides new, healthy food for 670,000 people who are food insecure in that state of Mississippi.
