PRCC receives health and wellness grant
POPLARVILLE, Miss. - Pearl River Community College students are encouraged to ride campus bikes in-between classes now.
The college received a hefty wellness grant of $198,000 from Blue Cross, Blue Shield, and the Mississippi Foundation.
Around $40,000 is going towards their new bike health and wellness initiative that was implemented this week. The school used the money to buy bikes for their campus, upgrade equipment at the gym, and added an outdoor stationary work-out station.

PRCC's Wellness Direcot Tara Rouse said, "We want to encourage everybody to create a cultural campus of health and wellness."
The new initiative is to make promote healthy exercise habits on campus. Rouse said students, teachers, and administration can rent the bike for a day or semester.
Rouse added, "We want to encourage individuals to get healthy and to exercise and then share the importance of that."
The remainder of the grant will go towards their first-ever kids camp this summer that focuses on health and nutrition.
