Kool Smiles will provide free dental care to uninsured kids

Hattiesburg, Miss. - Uninsured Hattiesburg children will be able to have their teeth checked for free thanks to one local dentistry.

Dr. Tara Pursley, Kool Smile’s state dental director said, "On May 15, we're having 'Sharing Smiles Day' here at Kool Smiles. The reason why we do 'Sharing Smiles Day' is because there's many kids in our area that don't have dental insurance. This way we can bridge the gap between the kids that don't have dental insurance and the parents that can afford to pay for quality dental care."

Kool Smiles started doing this last year and because it was such a success, Kool Smiles wanted to do it again this year.

Pursley said "working with kids is my passion. I hate to see a kid in pain and I really hate to see a kid who can't get dental care because of lack of insurance."

Pursley said they will be providing the full works that day.

Pursley said "we'll be seeing patients ages 18 and under. We'll be performing limited exams, emergency treatment, cleanings, extractions, fillings. Anything that the dentist sees that needs to be taken care of at that time."

On May 15, Kool Smiles will provide the free services from 9-11 a.m.
