Hattiesburg fire department adds new member

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Hattiesburg Fire Department (HFD) welcomed the newest member of its team. The new $700,000 fire fighting assistant is not short on bells and whistles.
HFD's Assistant Fire Chief said, "It pumps 1500 gallons per minute, basically it has a new integrated communication system on it, its just good to have a newer truck."
The fire truck offers the firefighters the latest safety technology updates to protect them in the event of any accident.
Mayor Johnny Dupree said, "It gives the firefighters some sense of importance that we feel strongly about, making sure we have the best and the newest type of equipment to fight fires with."
The department also recognized the USM Art department for designing its new logos.
USM logo designer, Cody Bass mentioned it meant a lot that the fire department hosted an unveiling ceremony.
"It was really cool to see everyone here and talk about the logo and the new truck" added Bass.
While the new truck and logo gives the department some style, the important thing is it represents a new era of safety and security in the community.
