City of Hattiesburg recognizes volunteer tax preparers

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Now that tax season is over, the city of Hattiesburg is honoring those who volunteered to prepare taxes for the community with its 10th Annual luncheon.

The volunteers worked for months preparing taxes for families who earn under $50,000.

The 57 volunteers worked all over the city and surrounding counties.

State Tax Coordinator for AARP, Anne Debolt said, "The mayor's recognition of this program and support of this program is tremendous, I don't think we would serve as many people as we do without the support of the mayor."

All the volunteers received IRS approved training to assist people with tax returns.
