Man arrested for possession of firearm at airport
JONES COUNTY, Miss. - This is a press release from the Jones County Sheriff' department.
On Friday, May 06, 2016, Jones County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the Pine Belt Airport (PIB) in reference to a male trying to board an American Airlines flight from Laurel/Hattiesburg to Dallas/Ft. Worth.
When deputies arrived, the TSA Officer on duty advised that Kendrick D. Holder, Jr. was being processed to board the flight when it was discovered his brown Louis Vuitton bag contained a firearm. Upon further inspection of the bag, a black and silver Smith & Wesson 40 caliber handgun, along with 2 rounds in the magazine, were found mixed in with his clothes. It was quickly confirmed the weapon was stolen out of Lamar County.
A criminal history on Holder was run through Central Dispatch and revealed he was a convicted felon. During Holder’s interview he stated he was sentenced to the Mississippi State Penitentiary in 2011 for Possession of Marijuana and went back in 2012 on a violation.
Holder was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Stolen Firearm and Weapon, Possession of by a Felon.
Holder's bond was set at $20,000.
